At Cibo, we focus at the intersection of brand narratives, experience design and engineering. We’re storytellers using curiosity, science and intuition to tap into what’s new and what’s next. We help our clients build brand experiences that matter.
Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA) wanted to put the power of wealth management into the hands of the individual investor. They turned to Cibo to create a new digital product called MyWealth, a completely self-directed wealth management platform. By combining our understanding of the CBA brand proposition, our deep experience in digital product UX design, and our knowledge of core underlying bank systems and technologies, we designed and launched the MyWealth platform. Result: An interactive web and mobile experience that removed confusing barriers, eliminated financial jargon, and simplified interfaces and tools to create confidence in consumers. To date, tens of thousands of customers have enrolled in the product and are actively engaged. Tens of millions of assets are under management, and thousands of transactions are completed each day.
Union Bank selected Cibo to handle digital agency of record duties across all mobile, web, social, and digital marketing channels. Result: The concept provided the first integrated product launch campaign for Lenovo in years and has driven the highest engagement of any campaign the company has ever run.
Volcom is an action sports and apparel brand deeply rooted in surf culture, with thousands of rabid, highly engaged worldwide fans. We were asked to drive even deeper engagement and loyalty by bringing Volcom’s surf contests to the people who couldn’t get there in person. Through the design and implementation of a highly reliable, live-streaming app, we delivered the surf broadcast feeds off the beaches of Hawaii and Fiji to the mobile devices of fans worldwide. Integration with Volcom’s social media channels allowed virtual communities to pop up around the surf contests and enabled fans to interact in app. An integrated content management system allowed regular content updates without needing to publish to the app store each time something changed. And using the phone’s native capability, fans were alerted via txt when the contest was on or their favorite surfer was up. Results: Tens of thousands of downloads, four star app reviews, and happy, engaged fans around the world.
Many consumers in the U.S. have an electrical SmartMeter in their home built by Silver Spring Networks, who also provide a large portion of the infrastructure that comprises the growing Smart Grid powering America’s homes and businesses. In addition to providing this infrastructure, Silver Spring Networks also offers value-added services to its utility customers, including a consumer-facing energy portal known as CustomerIQ. Cibo designed CustomerIQ to allow homeowners to easily understand their energy bills and make better decisions about how and when they use power. Results: The U.S. Department of Energy called this redesigned portal “The best demand response solution we have ever seen” and it saved one of Silver Spring Network’s customers over $3M in the course of one year.
Room & Board asked us to deliver an e-commerce design that would match the high standards of experience they set in their stores, call center, catalog, and in their delivery process. After usability benchmarking of the current site, strategic sessions with their executives, and several weeks spent riding around in trucks and shadowing associates in their stores, we defined a vision for an online furniture shopping experience on desktop, mobile, and tablet that truly embodied the Room & Board brand experience. Results: 17% increase in conversion, 3x number of products viewed each session, 30% increase in time spent on site.
How do you do match the skills of one of the world’s premier interior designers in telling the story of his brand? Ken Fulk, an internationally renowned designer chose Cibo to create the digital Ken Fulk experience because of the unique combination of our brand storytelling and user centered design chops. The new KenFulk.com would showcase Ken’s professional portfolio along with his colorful personality in a very Fulkian way. Collaborating at every step, we created an edgy interactive showroom for visitors, and brought Ken’s playfulness and brand personality forward at every point possible. Results: A website story that nails the brand personality and re-enforces the narrative that Ken works so hard to curate across all Fulk moments and experiences.
Disney brought Cibo the challenge of leveraging their world-renowned brand to convince high-end travelers that a Disney branded exotic destination planning for families would surpass all others. Cibo designed and launched adventuresbydisney.com, a website that helps families expertly plan authentic adventures around the globe so they can experience the real magic of being immersed in other cultures. Results: the service and entertainment attributes of the Disney brand were successfully translated to global destination travel. The site helped consumers understand that adventures by Disney would not be about fantasy and fiction, but instead about well curated experiences exposing families to the wonders of the world. Bookings increased significantly and everyone lived happily ever after!

He left the US to do agency acquisition consulting in London, but returned to his SF roots to launch Cibo as Co-Founder and CMO.
